Sprig just may be the coolest little toy company in the world. If you think we're talking in hyperbole, you'll just have to see these things for yourselves.

Sprig realizes how annoyed you are with all those flashing lights and incessant noises coming from the plastic toys stacked in the corner of your living room. More importantly, it knows how those toys' battery-powered action diminishes the active learning process that is such an important developmental element of playtime. But Sprig also knows your kids are a little addicted to lights and sounds -- so its founders set out with a clear vision and open mind to create a line of toys that would excite your children just like their traditional toys do -- but make them way more engaging.

The result: the Eco-Friendly Adventure Series, a fully kid-powered line of battery-free vehicles and Adventure Guides made in Canada from Sprigwood, a kid-safe, durable blend of recycled plastic and reclaimed Canadian Pine sawdust.

Sprig has designed an ingenious solution to powering its toys. Each vehicle house's an internal generator that is charged by the kinetic energy of your child's push- and pump-action play. The front seat of each vehicle is equipped with a Mini USB port, and each Adventure Guide has a mating port on its bottom. So when your child places one of his Sprig characters in the front of the vehicle and starts playing, the internal generator powers up both the vehicle and its driver.

The Rally Racer comes with the Rudy Tootin Adventure Guide. (Sprig's other vehicles and Adventure Guides -- sold separately -- are all compatible with one another.) All Adventure Guides, outfitted with LED headlamps, have their own voice, personality and story to tell, and it's up to your child to make them start talking. Playing with the Rally Racer will activate Rudy's LED headlamp, and the more actively your child plays with his Rally Racer the brighter Rudy's headlight will become. (Only the Discover Rig -- sold separately -- can unlock Rudy's Arctic Race adventure story.) The Rally Racer has seating for two, so Rudy can take a friend along with him.

Sprig toys are paint-free and packaged in richly designed eco-friendly recyclable cardboard, making them a great gift. And future Sprig products will be compatible with existing lines, extending the useful life of your child's favorite new toy.
