When we first laid our eyes on the Silibib we were taken with its bold colors and simple design. But then we stepped back and grew a little concerned...was the Silibib too, well, simple?
After testing a lime green Silibib on GB's youngest, and messiest, staffers - no, not our unpaid interns, silly...our unpaid babies - we realized that simple can be really sweet.
Silibibs are made from 100% food-grade hypoallergenic silicone. Why is that such a good thing? Because silicone is a smooth, non-porous, inert material, Silibibs resist odors and bacteria, are especially durable, and are undeniably easy to wipe clean, leaving no hiding spots for food (and germs) to linger. (The silicone does have a minimal amount of traction to prevent food from sliding off.) Silibibs are also free of BPA, phthalates, lead and PVC. Plus, they're super-lightweight and so flexible that they can be stashed in even the most overflowing diaper bags.
Foregoing snaps, velcro, and other not-so-perfect closure solutions, the Silibib secures around your child's neck with a nifty, integrated two-position silicone clasp. Best of all, Silibibs are dishwasher and washer/dryer safe. We like.
Silibibs are made by Silikids, a silicone-specialty company started in 2006 by two moms who were inspired to create simple, safe, better products for parents. They'll even recycle your Silibib for you when you no longer need it.
So after all this goodness, if you find yourself wondering if the Silibib is too simple, we have three words for you...
Don't be silly.
*We're straight shooters here at Greeno Bambino, so we can't say that the Silibib is for everyone. It is fairly small, so if maximum coverage is your goal, perhaps this is not your bag - er, bib. Also, because of the easy-wipe nature of the silicone material, we do not recommend Silibibs as drool-catching bibs. (You'll want something soft for that, such as this little star). |
