Each 5 oz. wide neck bottle comes with a Beginner (slow flow, 0-3 months) nitrosamine-free silicone nipple. (Nitrosamines are chemical compounds that have been linked to increased risk for cancer...bad stuff that has no place in your kid's mouth.) Of course, Green to Grow's bottles are dishwasher safe, and they are periodically tested for BPA, phthalates and lead at an environmental laboratory in Chicago, Illinois. As if you needed further assurances, Green to Grow's bottles recently
won an iParenting Media Award as one of the Greatest Products of 2008.
Green to Grow claims that the natural golden glow of these bottles comes from the safe PES (polyethersulfone) plastic used to make them -- but we think they're just happy to see us.
Also offered in regular neck and 10 oz. versions. Replacement nipples
are available in slow (Beginner), medium (Intermediate) and fast
(Expert) flow. (The base of the nipple on regular neck bottles is narrower, and children often find one easier to latch
onto than the other.)
Green to Grow, based in Los Angeles, California, is a proud member of 1% For the Planet, an alliance of businesses
that donate at least 1% of their annual revenues to environmental
organizations worldwide. It also founded the Bottles to Babies Initiative, using its website as a
vehicle to connect families who are no longer using their baby bottles
with local non-profit organizations and women’s shelters that accept
used baby bottle donations.
